We have developed a new platform technology designed to make it easy for anyone to administer urgently needed drugs, without training or prior experience, when patients are unable to treat themselves and time is of the essence. We have invented a single-use swab applicator that is activated with the simple press of a plunger. When activated, the stored drug solution is pushed to an oral swab, which emerges from the end of the plastic housing, ready for use. To administer the medication, one simply rubs the swab on the patient's inner cheek and gums. Our drug formulation includes a muco-adhesive, which protects the drug from saliva and holds it on the mucosal surface long enough to be absorbed into the blood. There are no needles and no requirement to prepare the patient or put them on their back. Our platform technology can be applied to dozens of drugs already on the market, as well as new drugs in development.
