NewYorkBIO and Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe Embark on Strategic Collaboration
The relationship will support educational programs for all ages at the historic site
NewYorkBIO, the leading advocate of New York’s life science community, and Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSCW), located at Nikola Tesla's last remaining laboratory on Long Island, today announced a new strategic partnership to strengthen connections across New York’s statewide innovation ecosystem and expand access to science education and engagement for audiences ranging from working professionals to the students that make up the next generation of scientists and inventors. The opening of its first building, the Sayan Center, this summer will serve as a landmark moment in TSCW’s decades-long effort to restore and activate the historic Wardenclyffe site. TSCW is entering a new phase as a public-facing educational hub for gatherings, working sessions, and events, and will serve as a venue for NewYorkBIO’s growing Long Island membership.
NewYorkBIO unites hundreds of bioscience companies, universities, research institutions, and organizations dedicated to advancing research and delivering new treatments and cures to patients. By connecting entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, NewYorkBIO fuels collaboration and drives scientific discoveries to improve patient outcomes.
“NewYorkBIO is proud to support companies of all stages and sizes within New York as the state continues to grow as a leading global hub for innovation,” said Jennifer Hawks Bland, CEO of NewYorkBIO. “This exciting new relationship with Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, made possible by Kara Cannon, will allow us to maintain our focus on uniting companies dedicated to advancing research and delivering new treatments and cures to patients.”
Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe is a nonprofit organization transforming the site of Nikola Tesla’s last remaining laboratory, one of the most significant scientific sites in the world, into a world-class museum and global Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) innovation center.
“A partnership with NewYorkBIO provides access to an expansive and influential network of professionals across the state, helping us raise the visibility of TSCW well beyond Long Island,” said Kara Cannon, Executive Director of Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, and NewYorkBIO Board member. “This is a long-term collaboration with the potential to grow into something genuinely new for New York’s innovation ecosystem. We are not just preserving history; we are building a place where the next generation of scientists and inventors can be inspired, educated, and connected.”
Both organizations are committed to strengthening regional engagement while building a strong global network of scientists, engineers, educators, and innovators across the region and at Wardenclyffe, a site TSCW is revitalizing as a destination for education, inspiration, and innovation. Located on a 16-acre property in Shoreham, New York, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Wardenclyffe is where Nikola Tesla once envisioned a wireless communication system capable of connecting the world.
