Nilo Therapeutics Wins Inaugural NewYorkBIO Impact Award Presented by New York City Economic Development Corporation
The award celebrates innovation, economic impact, and leadership in New York City’s thriving life sciences ecosystem
January 20, 2026, New York, NY – NewYorkBIO announced that Nilo Therapeutics is the winner of the inaugural NewYorkBIO Impact Award, presented in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). The announcement was made during the annual NewYorkBIO Life Science Company Showcase held at the New York Stock Exchange.
The NewYorkBIO Impact Award, presented by NYCEDC, recognizes a company with a strong presence in New York City’s rapidly growing ecosystem, and who has made significant contributions to the city’s economic development over the past year. NewYorkBIO welcomed nominations from members of the industry seeking to honor a company with a proven track record of scientific and technological advancement, investment and capital attraction, and/or community and ecosystem leadership within New York's life sciences sector.
“The launch of the Impact Award marks an important milestone for NewYorkBIO’s mission to highlight and support the incredible innovation advancing New York’s life science community,” said Jennifer Hawks Bland, CEO of NewYorkBIO. “We are proud to give the 2025 award to Nilo Therapeutics as they embody the entrepreneurial and scientific excellence that makes our state’s ecosystem thrive.”
Nilo Therapeutics, an early-stage biotech company developing groundbreaking therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, was selected for its bold innovation, commitment to patient-centered science, and deep roots in the New York community. As the 2025 winner, Nilo received a $15,000 cash prize from NYCEDC in recognition of its impact and continued potential to shape the future of health and biotechnology in the city.
“We’re honored to receive the inaugural NewYorkBIO Impact Award. It's an exciting time to be building a biotech company in New York City, and the City’s unique life sciences ecosystem has been instrumental to our growth as we advance new therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases,” said Kim Seth, CEO of Nilo Therapeutics.
This milestone highlights the strong partnership between NewYorkBIO and NYCEDC, aligning with the organizations’ shared mission to promote job creation, advance groundbreaking science, and strengthen New York City’s leadership in life sciences. The collaboration exemplifies how industry and public-sector initiatives can converge to support innovation ecosystems and patient-centered research.
“NYCEDC is proud to partner with NewYorkBIO to recognize companies like Nilo Therapeutics that are driving social and patient impact by creating jobs, advancing groundbreaking science, and strengthening New York City’s leadership in life sciences,” said Viq Pervaaz, NYCEDC Senior Vice President of Life Sciences & Healthcare. “Initiatives like the EDC Impact Award help shine a light on the impact of innovation-driven companies on city’s economy and health outcomes.”
