Statement on Biomarker Legislation Being Signed by Governor Hochul
NewYorkBIO and our members are thrilled that Governor Hochul has signed Senate Bill 1196a / Assembly Bill 1673a into law, requiring all state-regulated health plans in New York, including Medicaid, to cover comprehensive biomarker testing. The passage of this bill will help New Yorkers living with cancer and other conditions to access personalized treatment plans, ensuring they get the right care at the right time.
After years of advocacy to increase access to this crucial component of targeted treatment, we know that this news offers hope to the many patients and families across New York who are coping with disease and searching for answers to their diagnoses.
